Rakushun
楽俊
Tsuki no Kage, Kage no Umi

Kasho no Yume — Shokan
Half rat, half man, Rakushun is a hanjuu who befriends Youko after she is deceived by Takki. He nurses her back to health when he finds her collapsed on the roadside, and remains by her side as her firm friend throughout the series. After Youko is crowned as Empress of Kei, Rakushun goes to school in En. After surveying the state of Ryuu as a favor to Shouryuu, Rakushun encounters and befriends Shoukei, helping her out much like he helped Youko.
Rakushun is his nickname. His family name is Chou (張) and his given name is Sei (清). He also comes to be called Bunchou (文張) by his classmates when he attends university in En.

Bunchou — 文張 (literature + spread)
Ren-ou
廉王
Kasho no Yume — Toei
The name used to refer to the ruler of Ren.
The current emperor of Ren is a man called Ouseitaku.
Ren-ou — 廉王 (honest + king)
Ribi
驪媚
Higashi no Watatsumi, Nishi no Soukai
A sincere and diligent person, Ribi is loyal and trusted servant of En-ou.
Ribi — 驪媚 (black horse + flatter)
Rikou
利広
Tonan no Tsubasa
A man from Sou, Rikou encounters Shushou when she is enroute to Ken with her moukyoku Hakuto. When Shushou enters into the Yellow Sea accompanied by Gankyuu, Rikou is there.
He is the brother of Bunki and Ritatsu and the son of Sou-ou Seishin and Meiki.
Rikou — 利広 (benefit + wide)
Takuroukun — 卓朗君

Risai
李斎
Kaze no Umi, Meikyuu no Kishi
Tasogare no Kishi, Akatsuki no Sora
Kasho no Yume — Toei
A General of the Jou Provincial Army, from Jou Province in Tai.
Risai — 李斎 (plum + purification)
Ryuu Risai — 劉李斎 (axe + plum + purification)
Ryuushi — 劉紫 (axe + violet)
Riyou
梨耀
Kaze no Banri, Reimei no Sora
She was the mistress of Fu-ou, a previous ruler of Sai. Before meeting Fu-ou she was a prostitute. Fu-ou made her a sage and the mistress of the Suibi Grotto, where she lives. After his death, the Sai-ou who ascended the throne allowed her to retain her rank and possessions.
Riyou is a mean-tempered woman. She made Suzu a sage in return for Suzu becoming her servant. However, Riyou was unkind to all her servants, and especially came to delight in abusing Suzu as long as Suzu never gained the strength of will to fight back.

Suibikun — 翠微君
