The Five Mountains - 五山


Mount Hou

蓬山

The easternmost of the Five Mountains. It is also called Eastern Peak (東岳) and Eastern Mountain (東山).

The tallest of the Five Mountains, Suukou exists at the very center of the Yellow Sea. It is also called Mount Suu (東岳) , Central Peak (中岳) , and Central Mountain (中山). It is said that Tentei lives on this mountain, and nyosen, after studying here on Suukou, continue on to Houro Temple.

Gates of the Yellow Sea - 黄海の門

The Four Gates of Order (四令門)

Northeast Gate of Order / Reigon Gate / 令艮門

Opens at winter solstice. Located to the northeast of the Yellow Sea, in En.

Southeast Gate of Order / Reison Gate / 令巽門

Opens at autumn equinox. Located to the southeast of the Yellow Sea, in Kou.

Southwest Gate of Order / Reikon Gate / 令坤門

Opens at summer solstice. Located to the southwest of the Yellow Sea, in Sai.

Northwest Gate of Order / Reiken Gate / 令乾門

Opens at spring equinox. Located to the northwest of the Yellow Sea, in Kyou.

Earth Gate / Chi Gate / 地門

A gate in Ken that exists in the place of the usual Dragon and Snake Gates. It only opens at the spring equinox and leads to Reiken Gate. Next to it is a shrine worshipping Kenrou Shinkun. It opens up to a wide road six hundred fu wide that goes all the way through the Kongou Mountains. Peaks—and between the peaks, ravines—border the road.
